Now in its tenth year, the AFI was established to propel and maintain luxury African fashion brands on the global stage. This year’s show fused African and Asian influences as designers from across the continent, Rwanda, China, Japan, Cameroon, Cambodia and South Africa displayed their gorgeously colourful creations in a fully interactive fashion show.
Spanning four days, across multiple designers, each fashion show featured different Plascon colours in gorgeously luxurious Cashmere. Explains Moore, “The colours we chose for the different shows each spoke to future décor and design trends we have identified, and were also translated beautifully into a curated luxury fashion spaces throughout the event.”
Each day of the show the catwalk presented different hues, providing the perfect backdrop for the models and designers to display their medleys of avant-garde Afro Asian designs and fabrics.
The earthy Light Tan (94)) provided the perfect background for designers like Nao Serati, Mahone and Khosi Nkozi. Chopped Nuts (O1-C2-2) created a calming pink platform for the much anticipated MaXhosa by Laduma and Presidential. Soft grey-green Elfin Magic (G3-E2-1) hosted the Botswana Collection and designer Marianne Fassler showing her beautiful collection.
